My Mandarin is terrible, actually, non existent so it was a challenge to head up a kitchen team that spoke little words of English. Lucky I brought my assistant, Zach, who could translate with ease and really had my back at this event. I couldn't have done it without him, or my team.
So I have stopped eating tacos..well, actually that was a long time ago. The novelty wore off about one month into me being here in Mexico! Don’t get me wrong, they are delicious little morsels and you cannot stop at one – however they are not too great when the fashion at the moment is all skinny jeans and you don’t have the money to buy bigger clothes : )
We stepped into South East Asia.. well, explored a little bit of the cuisine at SHHH!! Dining's first event. It was a good 3 full days' of preparation, ordering equipment, service and clean up but was such a lot of fun and the atmosphere was warm and cosy.
It wasn't my first time on a set, nor was it my first time catering - however it was my first time catering on a set. For a good 20 people I provided snacks, meals and drinks for a hungry film crew on the set of CONTRA. A new short film written and directed by Miguel Muzquiz.
